WHY ART
The geometry of growing, a certain form, the musicality of color – there is a secret language in art, that can enlighten, heal and empower.
Color
Color is often what makes me feel the need to paint to begin with. I usually try out how complementary colors influence each other, how they balance and harmonize, but also the vibrato that can happen when certain close colors like red/pink, pink/orange, turquoise/green and what physiological reactions they may have. Occasionally, I have tried monochromatic color schemes.
Landscapes
When painting landscapes I try to create an image, where color is flowing, creating its own patterns, that can be interpreted as landscape. Sometimes I use a spraybottle and salt for structure.
Flowers
Petals backlit by sunlight seem to radiate nearly optically pure color. If you allow yourself to indulge in color and let it spread to the whole flower it becomes fluorescent.
Some flowers actually have fluorescent pistils. Just take a peek inside a small petunia in the of a summer evening! Magic…
Abstracts
My abstracts are a result of an aimless search for something, with a couple of chosen colors, to see what happens in the image and what may linger in any subconscious layers. I often find something, a symbol, something vague. Its meaning may not be clear until several months, even years later, when I see its real meaning, which is probably only personal. This is a very interesting world, although sometimes a bit frightening.
